Wiltshire is a thriving county that enables and positively encourages healthy living in strong, inclusive and prosperous communities. We are proud of our heritage and for having a strong community spirit. We are always seeking to improve the services we provide for our children and young people to keep them safe and help them achieve positive outcomes. We are now seeking a new Head of Children in Care, which is a pivotal role in continuing our journey to 'Outstanding'.
This post is part of the Senior Management Team for Families and Children’s Services, which has made excellent progress on its journey to transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people across the county. As Head of Service, you will have oversight and leadership of Children in Care and Care Leavers, Fostering and our Young Peoples' Service with its innovative work, including our “No Wrong Door” service, aimed at young people on the edge of care, and the Youth Offering Team. We are also developing our approach to the use of contextual safeguarding, working with the University of Bedfordshire over the next three years.
It is essential that you are an experienced Social Worker within statutory Children’s Services, as well as having a proven track-record of managing fostering teams. Experience of Youth Offending Teams and/or Children in Care Teams will also be helpful.
